Set The Table: Episode 13 – Party Composition, Vision, and Mission

This week on Set The Table we talk about party composition, from the game classic standard trio of Warrior, Wizard, Rogue, to our more modern idea of Tank/Damage/Healer. We talk about roles in 5e, as well as other systems like Call of Cthulu where classes don’t really exist, and back to old school systems like Dungeon Crawl Classics where class is more defined, baked in, and limiting/unique.

We also talk about building a party mission and vision, and how you as a new GM can help your party do that right from session zero. We talk about why that’s important, what challenges a GM can face, and a few ways we’ve handled it in our own games.
