Poem: What Is Low

You must
dig deep
to find
cool water.

Our hurt
it sinks
into ground
so low.

Far below
eternally dark
not cold
but hot.

Roiling fury
call out
let pause
sink down.

A moment
of calm
icy focus
a chill.

A spine
held sturdy
not fretting
yet afraid.

Energy moving
not fast
but slow
slow again.

Two extremes
moving with
life, death
pensive still.

No middle
not quite
balanced forces
at odds.

Yin Yang
but without
those two
little dots.

Light found
in darkness
shadows found
in glow.

No life
in death
no hope
down below.

Perhaps not
fate obscured
hindered vision
cannot know.
