Set The Table: Episode 19 – The “5-Minute Workday”

John and Jack are back and talking about one of Jack’s favorite things! (not…) The “5-Minute Workday”. It’s the idea that players who are limited by rest mechanics will mismanage their resources knowing they can recover mechanically with disregard to narrative or actual time/space reasoning.

For example, you bust into the scout tower outside the goblin fort and sparsely defeat the many guards. Now, at nine in the morning, after a 30-minute hike through the woods and less than two minutes of combat, you want to sleep for eight hours.

We discuss ways to handle this mechanically and with storytelling, and I think I may have swung Jack a little. If I can help a veteran find ways to deal with this common problem I’m sure you’ll find it helpful as well!
