Poem: Light And Dark

You can’t have light without the dark,
you see, they balance out.
You can’t have good without the bad,
that’s what life is about.

It shouldn’t have to be this way,
but that’s the way it would seem
I feel most motivated now
after something that to me, demeaned.

I want to write, and have my own
I want to be better at this
It’s so hard when my energy is spent
on things that feel amiss.

I’ve had people say to me,
don’t stop, I love your writing
thus into darkness I must step
so that I can provide this lighting.

Whenever I step, away from my own light
into shadows and void seen far
I feel the most longing, that I could feel
to return to safety, up on my comfort bar.

We want most, what we don’t have
and what a sad thing to observe
for if we had all we want, we wouldn’t want it any longer
then what is it that we deserve?

We shouldn’t want, nor should we fear
but that’s the world we’ve made
wanting, fearing, longing, greeding,
that’s how we’re taught to behave.

Now I don’t know, if light and dark
are friends or enemies
but it seems to me, no matter what
people will not be pleased.
