What if I, were in fact, a fly?
A life so small, would you kill me, and not bat an eye?
Yet if you think, and I mean, really ponder
We’re no greater than the fly, when we look, at our wild blue yonder
Space, the vast, expanse of stars
Tells us, loudly, who and what we are
We’re dots, we’re specks, almost nothing at all
Just how we judge that little fly on the wall.
What if aliens exist? They almost, certainly do
But why would they ever come to visit you?
You who is intelligent, by name and by claim
Yet who would kill your own brother, for enough paper, or fame
We think we’re so smart, we are of the wild
Even though our own brain use is so mild
No need to kill one another, but do
No reason except those brain damaged few
But we call them politics and not loonies
They’d cause less damage at home watching cartoonies
But everyone must work, everyone must learn
Everyone must be brainwashed to watch the world burn
But take a brief moment, do yourself a favor
If you were a potato chip, would you be, what flavor?
You’ll never be a chip, so why did I ask, you say
I wanted you to waste time, think of something, with no way
So when I ask you to think, and say really ponder
Perhaps more you’ll linger, trapped in wonder
Who are we really? What are we doing here?
Nothing at all, just surviving and drinking beer.
If you think your life matters, news flash, you don’t
any more than what potato chip flavor you’d be, but wont
any more than that fly, resting on the wall,
who you’ve sentenced to death before ever meeting at all
How smart can you be, really, like that
when you’d pass judgement before learning a single fact
or pass your judgement on an “age-old” saying
that fly, was not more than silence slaying
Yet you’ve come along, thinking your life more important
but your life means no more in this world than the poor ant
who struggles each day, to live and survive
while his entire world, could fit within our eye
Whose eye do we live in, who to us is so grand
well I think whatever it is, is of a realm we have yet to understand
Just because we cannot see, only means that we must learn
lest like the ant, we will be drowned, or burn.
Great post 😊
