Longing for a world, I’ll never truly know
Why is forward, the only way to grow?
Not up, nor down, nor even around
No moats in sight, but still a flow.
The rumble of cars, in morning sun
The rat race, once again begun
But here I dream, of a simpler time
Primitive and savage, this place undone.
I wish for the axe, bow, and sword
To hack, and hunt, and strike accord
To build my own with what I get
Not to amass a worthless hoard.
To rise each day, strive to live
Each act, each word, try to give
Let go of more than I consume
Away from this, and to all forgive.
I wonder much, about castle walls
Great stone workings, with intricate scrawls
I don’t want much, but I do want this
My place, my home, with our great halls.
With dances, feasts, in celebration
No nonsense stuck in litigation
A sensible ruling, each to their own
A peaceful life without frustration.
Without the trappings of our modern day
Which seem so often to get in the way
of happiness and a meaningful life
A return to our nature, we’ll slip away.
